— Dalian Peigen School Visits the World Music Culture Museum for a Study Tour

On the morning of July 2, students from Dalian Peigen School visited the World Music Culture Museum for a rich and engaging study and practice activity. This event seamlessly integrated Peigen School's educational philosophy — "focusing on the child not just for six years, but for sixty years" — with the museum's mission of "revitalizing China through culture, and conveying the Chinese dream through sound." In the hall of musical civilization, the young learners experienced a vivid aesthetic education lesson.

As China's first national-level museum dedicated to the fusion of Eastern and Western music cultures, the World Music Culture Museum houses over 12,000 treasures of Chinese and Western musical art and more than 300,000 classic vinyl records. Guided by the museum's docents, the students explored both the Traditional Chinese Music Exhibition Area and the Western Music Culture Exhibition Area. From the replica of the Zenghou Yi Chime Bells, representing the essence of Chinese ritual and musical civilization, to the crisp and melodious antique music boxes; from Edison's phonographs, which bear witness to the history of sound recording, to diverse world musical instruments — each exhibit captivated the children's curious eyes.

The students lingered long before the chime bells, listening to the echoes of ritual music from over two thousand years ago, and experiencing firsthand the depth and splendor of Chinese civilization. Many took notes diligently and asked questions enthusiastically, demonstrating a strong interest in musical culture. The museum's "exhibition-education integration + immersive experience" approach brought textbook knowledge to life in a tangible and memorable way.

Bayan Meets Young Hearts: Music Up Close

The highlight of the study tour unfolded in the museum's third-floor concert hall — a special Bayan (button accordion) music sharing session. Museum Bayan artist Yu Shitong delivered a wonderful performance and lecture, explaining the instrument's structure, comparing classical and popular music, and demonstrating the unique charm of Western instruments performing Chinese works. With vivid explanations and live demonstrations, she led the students into a colorful musical world.

During the interactive segment, the students responded with great enthusiasm, raising their hands eagerly and filling the hall with laughter and joy. Museum Founder and Director Zhang Jingxuan has long championed a new museum philosophy: "Making visiting museums a new way of life for contemporary people." This sharing session, which broke down the barriers between stage and audience, brought high art into the children's hearts in a warm and accessible way.

Writing from the Heart: Expressing Emotions Through Music

At the end of the activity, the museum presented each student with an exquisitely designed museum-themed postcard. The students carefully wrote down their thoughts and feelings from the day, stamped them with the museum's exclusive commemorative seal, and prepared to give these special gifts to their families. On the museum's third-floor ocean-view terrace, the children posed for group photos with their postcards in hand, with the blue sky and sea reflecting their bright smiles — a perfect moment frozen in this summer day.
